The Monarch Project
Bycor’s primary focus regarding community involvement has been in supporting The Monarch School Project – a school for homeless youth. This program is unique in the United States and has been enormously successful. We are currently involved in building a 50,000 square foot school for Kindergarten through 12th grade students, as well as social services for these children. For more information on Monarch and instructions on how to donate, visit http://www.monarchschools.org.

Project
We have had great success in building sustainable projects throughout the county: The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) had established a program of managing and recognizing projects based on their contributions to environmental and sustainable design. The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Program is now a well-recognized and supported program throughout the United States. Bycor has been awarded numerous projects in San Diego County that have won LEED certifications:

  • Tustin Office Building – LEED Gold
  • Liberty Station Office Building 902 – LEED Gold
  • High Tech High Chula Vista – LEED Gold
  • High Tech High North County – Submitted LEED Silver
  • EDAW Environmental Engineering Company offices – LEED Certified
  • Amylin Pharmaceuticals Offices – LEED Certified
  • Lux Art Institute – LEED Certified
  • San Diego Foundation – LEED Certified
  • Currently in planning: High Tech High K-8 campus in Chula Vista - Submitted LEED Gold

LEED Accredited Professionals
Bycor has LEED Accredited Professionals on staff to assist in the design and management of our projects – to support and promote sustainable construction practices:

  • Marianne Lamoureux – Project Engineer - LEED AP
  • Terry Holum – Estimator/Project Manager - LEED AP
  • Valerie Hudson – Project Engineer - LEED AP

Vehicles

  • Bycor owns several Toyota Prius’ and other Ultra Low Emission Vehicles.
  • We have standardized on Toyota Tacoma trucks. These vehicles provide excellent gas mileage while allowing our crews to move materials as required.
  • When larger vehicles are required, we have purchased diesel-powered trucks for their fuel and carrying capacity efficiency.

Recycling

  • We attempt to recycle 100% of our construction debris, even when the project is not a LEED affiliated development.
  • All other materials are recycled and donated (carpet, cabinets, etc).

Mission
We will use our knowledge, experience and greatest efforts to provide the best value, quality and service for our clients.
